PJSC Astrakhan Port processed 418 thousand tons of cargo since the beginning of the year

The head of Foreign Affairs Agency of Astrakhan Region Vladimir Golovkov was told about the current production affairs and long-term plans of Astrakhan Port, the controlling stake of which belongs to the Iranian company Nasim Bahr Kish.

According to the results of the first nine months of this year, cargo turnover in PJSC Astrakhan Port amounted to 418.1 thousand tons, which corresponds to the level of last year. The company is a regional leader, its share in the total volume of cargo transshipment in the consolidated seaport of Astrakhan in the third quarter of 2021 is 20.5%.

«Astrakhan Port is a strategic facility for both Astrakhan Region and Iran, as well as for the development of the International North-South Transport Corridor», Vladimir Golovkov noted. - With the arrival of Iranian investors, a lot has changed for the better at the enterprise.

In 2014, the Iranian company Nasim Bahr Kish took over the port in a loss-making state. Over the years, the investor has upgraded the equipment. At its own expense, a berth was built, an access road was put in order, a checkpoint across the State Border and a platform for temporary cargo storage were equipped.

Currently, the length of the mooring wall is 640 meters. The company is equipped with seven gantry cranes with a lifting capacity from 16 to 27 tons and two gantry cranes.

We are able to simultaneously receive river and sea cargo vessels with a carrying capacity of three to five thousand tons at five berths," Seyed-Javad Purdast said. "We are trying to create comfortable conditions for our customers."

180 residents of Astrakhan work in the port. The average salary is over 33 thousand rubles, there is a social package for employees.

During the conversation, the topic of the prospects for the development of the port was touched upon.

"We have the opportunity to significantly increase cargo transshipment," the port director said. - The port's capacities are designed for annual volumes of 1 million tons."

To do this, the company has plans for further development of the port infrastructure. In particular, it is required to build terminals for the transshipment of vegetable oil and perishable goods, expand storage facilities for grain crops, purchase sea vessels, and continue the development of the territory.
