Igor Babushkin attends the plenary session of the XVII Forum of Interregional Cooperation

The Presidents of Russia and Kazakhstan, Vladimir Putin and Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, will speak at it in a videoconference format.

At the previous, XVI Forum of Interregional Cooperation, the leaders of the two countries proposed to intensify work in the field of environmental protection, especially water management.

With this in mind, the main theme of the current meeting was formulated – "Cooperation in the field of ecology and green growth". The Forum will touch upon the issues related to the conservation of the ecosystem of transboundary reservoirs Zhaiyk (Ural), Ertis (Irtysh) and other large rivers, biodiversity, the population of the Caspian seal and climate change, as well as create an international dialogue platform for reaching specific agreements between the Forum participants aimed at implementing joint projects in the field of ecology, geology and natural resources.

Within the framework of the Forum, a meeting of the Russian-Kazakh Business Council was held on September 28-29, panel sessions were held on the problems of preserving the ecology of transboundary water bodies, climate change, wildlife and flora.
