Forum of Regions of Belarus and Russia held online

On September 29, 2020, the Governor of Astrakhan Region Igor Babushkin took part in the VII Forum of the Regions of Belarus and Russia, which was held online.

The plenary session of the forum, chaired by Valentina Matvienko, the Chairman of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation, and Roman Golovchenko, the Prime Minister of the Republic of Belarus, was dedicated to the historical heritage of the Great Victory as the basis for the development of social, economic and spiritual ties between the peoples of Russia and Belarus.

Special attention at the forum was also paid to the development of interregional cooperation between two countries.

Astrakhan region and the Republic of Belarus have been developing mutually beneficial cooperation for many years. There are agreements with the Government of the Republic of Belarus as well as with Brest and Vitebsk regions. A program of joint actions was signed. Trade and economic ties as well as contacts in the field of culture and science are being successfully developed.

The Presidents of the Russian Federation and the Republic of Belarus addressed the participants of the forum through the video message. Vladimir Putin stressed the importance of fraternal, friendly relations between Russia and Belarus based on the principles of equality and consideration of each other's interests.
