On the 40th anniversary of the Islamic Revolution in Iran

Today, February 11, 2019, the Islamic Republic of Iran celebrates the 40th anniversary of the Victory of the Islamic Revolution with special solemnity.
The day before, on February 8, an official reception was held at the Consulate General of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Astrakhan on this date.
The leadership of Astrakhan region and the city of Astrakhan were invited to the reception, among them the acting Governor Sergei Morozov, the chairman of the Duma of Astrakhan region Igor Martinov, the head of the administration of the city of Astrakhan Radik Kharisov, businessmen, heads of higher educational institutions of the region, religious figures.
In his speech, Consul General Ali Mohammadi noted that the Islamic Republic of Iran at the turn of the 40th anniversary of the Islamic revolution continues to demonstrate sustainability in the progressive development of the economy, science, the development of advanced technologies and humanitarian development. Thus, over the past decades, the Islamic Republic of Iran has turned from an importer into an active exporter of cement and clinker, and has provided the country's domestic needs for rolled metal products and wheat.
Iran has become one of the leaders in the application of modern technologies in medicine, in the energy sector, including the use of wind and solar energy, as well as the peaceful atom.
Ali Mohammadi noted the importance of Astrakhan region as a region, which has been developing friendly relations with its Iranian partners over the years, and stressed the importance of their further improvement. The Consul General stressed that in 2018, bilateral trade between the region and the Islamic Republic of Iran increased by 60% compared with the previous year.
In response, acting Governor of Astrakhan Region Sergei Morozov stressed that for the Astrakhan region the traditions of historical friendship, good neighborliness and mutually beneficial cooperation with the Islamic Republic of Iran are of great importance.
The bright evidence of joint fruitful work in the trade and economic sphere is the opening of the Iranian Trading House in Astrakhan, the growing number of Iranian companies operating in Astrakhan region, the opening of a branch of the National Bank of Iran in Astrakhan, success in foreign economic cooperation and trade, where the share of the Islamic Republic of Iran consistently stays high. In the humanitarian sphere - the installation of a monument to the great Persian philosopher, mathematician, astronomer and poet Omar Khayyam, successful cooperation in science and education, culture and sports.
The policy of developing relations and interregional cooperation of the Astrakhan region with Iranian partners will remain unchanged.
