In 2022 Astrakhan will host celebrations dedicated to the 350th anniversary of the birth of Peter the Great

International conference "Astrakhan Peter's Readings" will be one of the main events during the celebration of the 350th anniversary of the birth of Peter the Great in Astrakhan. The celebrations will be held throughout Russia in June 2022. The Government of Astrakhan region has approved a regional interdepartmental plan of events dedicated to the anniversary.

By order of the Governor of Astrakhan Region Igor Babushkin, a meeting of the working group on the preparation and organization of key events of the plan was held under the chairmanship of the Minister of Culture and Tourism of the region, Olga Prokofieva.

It was decided to hold the International Conference "Astrakhan Peter's Readings" in the format of plenary sessions and sessions in September next year. World-renowned scientists will be invited to the forum: Alexander Kobak - historian, public figure, Chairman of the Council of the Peter the Great Institute (St. Petersburg), Iskra Schwartz – Professor of the Institute of Eastern European History at the University of Vienna, Igor Kurukin – historian, professor of the Russian State University for the Humanities (Moscow) and other prominent figures of science.

A theatrical performance dedicated to the 350th anniversary of the birth of Peter the Great and his eastern policy will also be held in Astrakhan on the Volga Embankment in the autumn of next year. During the event, the audience will be introduced to an important period in the history of Russia and the reign of the outstanding emperor – his arrival in Astrakhan, the creation of the Caspian Flotilla. The developers of the concept proposed to use the clubs of reconstructions of the Peter the Great era, as well as the ships of the Caspian Flotilla.
