Agreement on Cooperation between Astrakhan region and Yalta municipality signed

The Yalta municipality delegation has had a meeting with Governor of Astrakhan region Mr. Alexander Zhilkin.

Within the course of the meeting prospective trends of bilateral cooperation have been raised. Trade and economy matters, such as direct commercial ties between business entities, setting up joint companies in fisheries, participation of businesses in expo events and promotion of local goods in the markets of the two territories with due regard for optimal distribution of goods. Besides such issues as recreation of Astrakhan dwellers in Yalta’s health spas, cooperation in education and youth policies, culture and tourism and sports.

Following the talks and negotiations held within the frames of the visit, an Agreement on Cooperation between the Astrakhan Region Government and Yalta municipal entity of the Republic of Crimea has been signed. In his statement Governor Alexander Zhilkin has stressed that the integration of the Crimea into the Russian Federation has gained momentum whereas the agreement signed will serve a solid foundation for interaction in the future. Mr. Kosarev, in his turn, has expressed his gratitude to Astrakhan region for the support during the republic’s transition period and has noted that Yalta is one of the first Crimean municipalities to take up a social and economy development strategy. In this connection the head of the Yalta municipality delegation has addressed Governor Alexander Zhilkin with a request to render methodological assistance with developing the strategy. Governor Alexander Zhilkin has assigned the regional authorities to get involved in this initiative and to carry on with expanding the all-out bilateral collaboration.

Pursuant to the agreements reached during the visit, the Astrakhan Region Government has embarked on setting up a plan of joint actions.
