Foreign economic activities of Astrakhan region in 2020

According to the Southern Customs Administration of the Federal Customs Service of Russia, the foreign trade turnover of Astrakhan region in 2020 amounted to 993.2 million US dollars, which is 55.7% more than in 2019 (638.4 million US dollars).

According to the results of 2020, a positive trade balance in the amount of US $ 322.6 million was formed (in 2019, a positive balance in the amount of US $ 374.6 million).

The main trading partners of the region (in descending order of value): Iran – 32.4 % (in 2019 – 50.0 %), Turkmenistan-20.3% (in 2019 – 1.1 %), India-17.6% (in 2019 – 0.06%), China – 9.2 % (in 2019 – 14.3%), Azerbaijan – 1.8 % (in 2019 – 2.6%), Malaysia – 1.8 % (in 2019 – 0.02%), Serbia – 1.4 % (in 2019 – 0.07%), Kazakhstan – 1.3 % (in 2019 – 3.3%).

Export

In 2020, the export of the Astrakhan region amounted to 657.9 million US dollars, which is 29.8% more than in 2019 (507.3 million US dollars). The value of exports to non-CIS countries is estimated at 616.6 million US dollars, to the CIS countries-41.3 million US dollars.

Astrakhan foreign trade participants carried out export operations with 29 countries (in 2019 – 30).

Deliveries of products were carried out in 44 product groups (in 2019 – 59).

The largest trading partners in the export of the Astrakhan region at the end of 2020 are (in descending order of value): Iran (40.6 %), India (26.5%), China (12.2%), Algeria (5%).

The commodity structure of exports is mainly presented (in descending order of value): special machinery products - 65.1 %, cereals - 21.7 %, wood and pulp and paper products - 7.6%, oilseeds and fruits - 2.7 %.

Import

In 2020, Astrakhan region's import is estimated at 335.3 million US dollars, which is 154.2% more than in 2019 (131.9 million US dollars). This is due to a one-time delivery from Turkmenistan to Astrakhan region of the floating drilling rig "Mercury" worth 195.2 million US dollars. Excluding this supply, import amounted to $ 140.1 million and increased by 6.2%.

The value of imports from non-CIS countries is estimated at 114.2 million US dollars (APPG - 115.3 million US dollars), from the CIS countries - 221.1 million US dollars (APPG - 16.5 million US dollars).

The largest trading partners in the import of the Astrakhan region at the end of 2020 are (in descending order of value): Turkmenistan (59.4 %), Iran (16.3%), the Netherlands (5.8%), China (3.4%).

The commodity structure of the Astrakhan Region's imports is mainly represented (in descending order of value volumes): vessels, boats and floating structures – 82.1%, edible fruits and nuts (dates, raisins) - 3.9 %, ferrous metal products (seamless drilling pipes, metal structures, cast iron products) - 3.9%, equipment and mechanical devices - 3.6 %.
