The prospects of the Astrakhan-Turkmen cooperation were discussed at the highest level

The President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin visited Turkmenistan on October 2. The Governor of Astrakhan region Alexander Zhilkin was a member of the official delegation of the official Russian delegation.
During the talks with the President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and bilateral meetings the Parties discussed the current issues and prospects of Russian-Turkmen relations, including prospects for cooperation in the Caspian Sea in the trade-economic and transport spheres.
Following the talks the President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov noted the following “We recognize the importance to use of port infrastructure of our countries on the Caspian sea in the cities of Turkmenbashi and Astrakhan as well as the ferry services between them and creation of trade-logistics centre of Turkmenistan in Astrakhan region”.
